January 2026 Recap: Building FM Programs That Last

How did we kick off 2026 inside the CoreBuild™ Collective? By diving deep into how Facilities leaders are building smarter, stronger FM programs that last. This month’s roundtable focused on building, or rebuilding, programs when you walk in with:

  • De-centralized, siloed processes
  • Supplier contract chaos
  • An antiquated CMMS, or no working CMMS at all
  • A lot of pressure to fix it fast

You can’t fix what you can’t see.

January highlights

Start smart, even if it’s messy. Step one is discovery: asset lists, supplier relationships, contracts, and uncontrolled spend. Map the chaos, then structure it into an organized plan.

Build beyond yourself. Build for your team now and for the future leaders of the program. A program shouldn’t depend on one leader to succeed. Create tools, templates, and SOPs that outlast your time in the role.

Technology is only as good as the process. A CMMS is essential, but tools don’t solve for adoption. Narrow access for end users, train with job aids and an LMS, and make the work order flow easy to navigate.

Get operations on board early, from the top down. Internal storytelling, field visits, and regular leadership updates matter. The best programs are built with operations, not handed to them and left to wonder why they don’t stick.

We’re welcoming even more multi-site FM leaders from across restaurants, retail, healthcare, and service-based brands into the group. If you want in, reach out at [email protected].
